Fieldwork is designed to encourage students to develop their own research, plan and manage projects, and to develop teamwork skills. Fieldtrips include both residential and day trips; and travel to destinations across the UK and Europe. Accreditation This degree is accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).

Students wishing to take GEOG3195 will need to have taken either GEOG1400 at Level 1 or GEOG2150 at Level 2. There will be two field class options. Students can choose either to go on the Virtual field trip to Sicily in Semester 1 or go on the in-person UK-based field class module in Semester 2.

Students must pass 100 credits and all 'pass for progression' modules as identified in the programme. In level 1, students are required to pass a minimum of 50 credits in Economics and 40 credits in Geography. The further 30 credits should be used to take further modules in one or both main subjects; and/or up to 20 credits in discovery modules.

As a geography student at Leeds, we ensure that you benefit from a wide range of teaching methods, including lectures, tutorials (groups of eight), seminars (groups of approximately 30), computer classes, lab practical classes, group-work, online exercises and fieldwork, depending on the modules you study.

The semester culminates in a residential field trip, in which you'll undertake data acquisition and analyse the data you collect. Project work. Throughout semester 3, over summer, you'll apply the skills learnt during the taught course to undertake an independent project to explore a current geophysics research problem.
